1. Who We Are
pikup.in is an office carpooling platform operated from Hyderabad, India. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at info@pikup.in.
2. Information We Collect
Account information: Name, work email address, phone number, company/organisation name, gender.
Profile information: Home area, office area, departure times, vehicle type and model, offering ride status.
Identity documents (optional): If you choose to get ID Verified, we collect and store a copy of your submitted document (Aadhaar, company ID, passport, or driving license).
Usage data: Pool memberships, ride logs, expense records, ratings given and received, notifications.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically when you use the platform.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To match you with co-workers on similar commute routes
- To display your profile information to other pool members
- To send OTP emails for account verification
- To send transactional notifications (join requests, approvals, etc.)
- To review and approve ID verification submissions
- To calculate and display cost splits for carpool pools
- To maintain the safety and security of the platform
- To improve and develop the platform
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
4. What We Share
With other users: Your name, profile photo initial, company, home area, office area, departure time, vehicle type, and rating are visible to users on your route and members of pools you join. Your email and phone number are never publicly displayed.
With pool members: Once you join a pool, members can see your name, company, and rating.
Identity documents: Your uploaded ID document is only accessible to pikup.in admin staff for verification purposes. It is never shared with other users.
With service providers: We use Hostinger for hosting and email delivery. We do not share your data with any analytics, advertising, or marketing platforms.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Hostinger in the EU. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Password hashing using bcrypt
- ID documents stored in a restricted directory inaccessible to the public
- Admin-only access to sensitive user data
No system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your profile, route, and pool membership data is deleted within 30 days
- Ride history and expense records may be retained for up to 90 days for dispute resolution
- ID documents are deleted within 14 days of account deletion
- Ratings you've given remain but are anonymised
7. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. No cookie consent banner is needed because we only use strictly necessary cookies.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update your profile information at any time via your account settings
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection: Object to any processing of your data that you believe is unlawful

9. Children's Privacy
pikup.in is intended for working professionals aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by displaying a notice on the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
